The fandom behind Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise has spurred on a new project parallel to the coming John Wick 4 movie, an inevitable recent trend of cinematic movies inspiring TV serial content.
So if you ever wanted to know about the origins of the elite hotel for bloodythirsty assassins known as the Continental, now is your chance.
As far as the timeline goes, the John Wick-spinoff series will will be a prequel to the current film franchise and will be set in the groovy era that is the 1970s.
Lionsgate Television Chairman Kevin Beggs had this to say about the planned The Continental series:
What we’re exploring in The Continental is the young Winston and how it came to be that he and his team of confederates found their way into this hotel which we have met for the first time in the movie franchise 40 years later.
Furthermore, The Continental would see Keanu Reeves enter the fray as Executive Producer. And when the Sopranos is being used as both litmus test and a guide to the formation of the series, one can not help but think it to be a winning formula. In theory, anyway.
So Hotel Artemis, same rules including not to spill blood on hotel grounds. Just an episodic event. Got it.
