The Batman movie may be set to turn a few heads in cinemas (or HBO Max by the look of things). But fans can expect the series treatment that the like of Marvel Studios with DC’s recent push for more stream-worthy content.

The Batman is getting a spinoff series, which is slated for HBO Max. It is reported that Giri/Haji creator Joe Barton has joined the untitled series as showrunner, with The Batman director Matt Reeves still onboard as executive producer. Barton has replaced Terence Winter who was initially set to be the showrunner before his departure from the project in November.

No word on exact production dates, but The Batman spin-off is slated to be a prequel series. The Batman movie, however, is currently scheduled to hit cinemas come March 4, 2022.
