The news of any Star Wars related features in recent times has often been about planned trilogies and GOT director-helmed movies being abandoned before the work even truly started. As such, much of the recent Star Wars fanfare has been carried on by Disney+ tv and video games with the likes of The Mandalorian and the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order respectively. However, it would seem the feature wheels are turning once more post Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.
A new Star Wars Movie is currently in development over at Lucasfilm. And to helm this particular effort, the company has placed Matt Owens and J.D. Dillard in their employ. J.D. Dillard is known for his writing-directorial work on the movie Sleight. Matt Owens is known as a writer on the Luke Cage series.
This is aside from the aforementioned Rian Johnson is still nominally developing a new suite of Star Wars movies for Lucasfilm as well as the Old Republic inspired Star Wars movies.
More as things develop.
