Since the colossal Disney-Fox merger took place, much of the 20th Century Fox-sanctioned Marvel movies have been in limbo, or underwent ugly, narrative-destroying transformations, save for the lucky Deadpool who managed to transition to Disney virtually unscathed. There is a comment in there about his ability to transcend the fourth wall in there somewhere.
One such movie has been The New Mutants. Save from the trailer and the horror skew reseeding into near obscurity with talks of rating downgrades into PG-13 territory and push backs on release dates, we have not heard much from the project. Until now.
Josh Boone, the director attached to the project, has taken to Instagram to unveil. that a new trailer is set to come by us next week on January 6.
The director also took the opportunity to confirm a hard release date for fans. So, mark April 3rd in your calendars as that is when the movie will be out in cinemas. Which is pretty decent considering we thought that at the very least it looked like, at one point, its future would have been straight-to-BluRay. Or worse, shelved.
The New Mutants cast includes Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa a.k.a Sunspot, a mutant with the ability to absorb and channel solar power; Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, the Native American telepath also known as “Mirage”; Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself but also has more going on than she lets on; Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin, also known as Magik, who uses teleportation; Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie, a.k.a. Cannonball; and Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair, a.k.a. Wolfsbane, who can turn into a wolf.
