Is Nintendo ending the Wii U?

Nikkei, a Japanese newspaper published an article that stated the time for Nintendo Wii U is coming to an end. It reported Nintendo would stop production of the Wii U console come the end of 2016. Reasons? The console’s slow sales record, which are not expected to improve.

Rumour has it the mysterious NX console is set for release pretty much the same time the Wii U goes out of commission, with the long awaited Legend Of Zelda being a launch title game for the console.

However, Nintendo has come out and vehemently denied it’s ending the Wii U. Nintendo spokesperson has given a talk on the issue via IT Media:

This isn’t an announcement from our company. From the next quarter and thereafter as well, production [of the Wii U] is scheduled to continue.
