The Legend Of Zelda is set to bring its sprawling, hopefully vista-filled lore to the silver screen as news from Sony Pictures’ CEO teases a live-action film is in development that will be “an amazing tale of adventure and discovery.”
Wes Ball, the director behind is set to direct the film, which will also be produced by long time Spider-Man producer, Avi Arad.
Nintendo game director Shigeru Miyamoto spoke on the news in a statement:
“I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films. I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”
No word in terms of actors being pegged for the role, but knowing Sony Pictures, we are sure their go-to Tom Holland and algorithm suggested Hunter Schafer’s name is flying around on some black list in a few email chains.
Fans will also have more to look forward to as the franchise is also set to get an animated adaptation. Details are currently still sketchy on this one though.
More as details.
