Despite brandishing an almost all-red get up, China doesn’t seem to be a fan of the ‘Pool. As it turns out, the hard-R rated Deadpool film was a bit too extreme for China, and it has been banned.
Citing graphic violence, nudity, and language, China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television has banned Deadpool from screening in the country. And the thing is this could affect the overall success of the film, China being the world’s second-largest movie market. After all, it was Chinese viewership that saved Terminator Genisys from the brink of oblivion and obscurity.
But hey, this gives us an idea for a new 20th Century Fox Deadpool promo. Storming China to find out why he’s been banned.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
