Tyrese Gibson teases himself as John Stewart and Chris Pine as Hal Jordan in Green Lantern
It looks like Tyrese Gibson is set to make his dream a reality, steadily teasing fans that he may be wearing the GL ring for DC Comics Green Lantern film via social media:
The image shows fan art depiction of Gibson as John Stewart, but it stands alongside art depicting Chris Pine as Hal Jordan.
Of course we know Chris Pine has been named to play Wonder Woman’s love interest. So either Gibson is trolling, or WB used the Chris Pine / Wonder Woman story as a smokescreen in preparing for GL come 2020.
Our guess is if the Gibson GL tease is true, we could be seeing two GL’s from Earth on screen, one more seasoned than the other of course and the conflict that comes from master (who probably has just begun to take on that role) and overzealous-boarding-on-arrogant pupil with raw talent and street smarts is a classic narrative we all can get behind.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in typical humble-bragging fashion, Tyrese teased fans about taking the ‘Oath’:
There are certain things I can’t speak on. But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens…
Listen, these muscles are here and they’re ready to be used. There are lot of people, domestically and internationally, who’s got love with your boy. I’m coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly. I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern.
Given the backstory in DC Comics, Hal Jordan may become the one who trains John Stewarts in the ways of the GL Corp. Let’s hope any conversation isn’t this blaxploitation-y:

“So do you think Tyrese is trolling hard. Or will he be Green Lantern’s John Stewart alongside Chris Pine? Or were you looking forward to Arrow’s Diggle to take the Oath? And what about Chris Pine? DC could potentially shoot themselves in the foot if they ever wanted to make a film crossover film between Green Lantern and Star Trek like the did in the comics.
