Halo has been a staple for that intricate cross-section of FPS and the Xbox. And its legend also speaks to the characters and voices that portray the likes of Master Chief and the AI with attitude – Cortana. Now it has come to light that the voice that brought this character to life in the video game franchise is poised to do it once again in the coming Showtime live-action TV series inspired by the video game.

Jen Taylor will reprise her role as Cortana in the nine-episode Halo TV series. Originally, Natascha McElhone (Designated SurvivorSolaris) was cast to play both the role of Cortana and the woman that created the AI modeling her likeness in the game narrative – Dr. Catherine Halsey. However, that Covid-19 threw a spanner into the works which has caused scheduling issues for the actress. Fortunately, she’s still set to play Dr. Halsey, one of the franchise’s more controversial characters.

It makes sense for sure that the AI wouldn’t necessarily be exactly like Catherine. Taylor being brought into the mix will play major (not intended pun-y word) part in the nostalgia department as well as portraying the representive nature of the AI itself. Not a direct reference to this news but I’ve seen avatars of women that look way hotter than their creators which they are supposed to represent.

But what do you think? Too harsh a dichotomy for your liking? Let us know in the comments!
