Ever thought you would see the day where the likes of a new Batman Arkham game would be a console exclusive? Well, we would doubt DC would fancy the concept of wanting to narrow their platform selection when it comes to video games, but it has not stopped this particular rumour. Xbox is said to be in the market for purchasing the game developer – WB Games.
AT&T, in a effort to reduce debts, has reportedly been considering selling off Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which it wholly owns as part of its Warner Media subsidiary. Having that said, WB Games is a developer whose greatest games are based on licensed intellectual property. As such, these licenses wouldn’t necessarily transfer over in the purchase of the company and would require them to renew or gain licenses for retention of, say, a future Batman Arkham game.
Xbox is not the only one in the runnings, as according to news reports, WBIE courters include Rockstar and 2K parent company – Take-Two, Electronic Arts – and Activision Blizzard. The going price tag registers for around a cool $4 billion.
