This certainly comes to us as a Public Service Announcement, as news of a new video game series is set to be adapted into a TV series for our viewing pleasure. Surely to be chocked full of radiation and a never-changing war.

Get ready for your Nuka Cola and irradiated monstrosities as Fallout is set to be made into a television series. The series envisions a 1940’s world post-nuclear war, one that leaves a wasteland littered with survivors looking to erect a new utopia, whilst surviving the harsh new challenges they face on the new frontier. Very B-Movie, nuclear fantasy. The series is slated for Amazon’s video streaming service – Prime Video.

And to develop this television series, Amazon has got some heavy hitters in their employ who know a thing or two about creating whole worlds. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of the award-winning series Westworld will be at the helm of development for the Fallout TV adaptation. The series will be made under the umbrella of their Kilter Films brand alongside Amazon Studios.

Here is what Kilter Films’ Joy and Nolan had to say about the news:

Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.

Sounds like he played a lot of ‘chapters’ of the Bethesda game. And no avid gamer has ever said a game ‘cost’ them unless it indubitably sucked. Or are we being over-analytical?

In any case, more as things develop.
