If you are anything like us, you probably imagine Marvel as a boss who goes into an abandoned warehouse with amped ‘Disney’ bodyguard to meet another boss ‘Fox’ to discuss terms and trade, everyone uptight and on edge.

But there seems to be a bit of give and take. More recently with Legion, the FOX series looking at the life of Professor Xavier’s illegitimate schizophrenic son. And if you understand that X-Men’s film rights are owned by 20th Century Fox and their understandable stubborness to give it back to Marvel has been an issue in the past.

No we have another bit of exchange that will have a bit of give and take across the Deadpool and Guardians‘ universe.

Remember Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool? Of course you do. Well, in the original Marvel comics, she was a psionic-powered (psychic to be specific) character. But the team behind deadpool made her more of kinetic, explosive character. But to make this change, their film rights agreement stipulates FOX has to get permission to make any diverging changes it makes to Marvel characters in their films. And here is where we have the trade-off.

So, in return for Deadpool being able to change the power of Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Marvel was able to get FOX-owned Ego the Living Planet to appear in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. The larger than life planet will be played by actor Kurt Russell. Which is pretty awesome.

Good Stuff. And pretty much worked out for both. More of this please. And with FOX set to reboot the X-Men franchise in a ways after Logan, can we see more of a collab across 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios / Disney in the same way Marvel and Sony have with Spider-Man?

This guy hopes so.

Deadpool 2 is slated to start production next year (if they get their director issues sorted).

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to debut in cinemas come May 5th 2017
