From DC Comics released their plans to bring their girl-powered heroines to the forefront in an incentive to empower and tell stories of young teenaged girls, we’ve kept an eye out for DC Super Hero Girls.
Now we can have a looksie at all the players involved via the official website http://www.dcsuperherogirls.com/ via these nifty little profiles for Katana, Batgirl, Supergirl, Bumblebee, Katana, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Wonder Woman:
Announced earlier this year, DC Super Hero Girls is a collaborative effort that spans the likes of DC Entertainment, Warner Bros., Mattel, Random House Children’s Books and LEGO. Mattel will create a toy line that will launch in 2016, featuring a line of action figures and fashion dolls featuring “strong, athletic bodies that stand on their own in heroic poses,” according to the announcement. Random House Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, will act as publishing partner for the franchise, releasing a series of books about the DC Super Hero Girls starting in spring 2016. LEGO will produce building sets based in the “DC Super Hero Girls” world.
Definitely looking forward to seeing more uniquely tailored narrative aiming to bring younger chicas into the comic book party.
“What say you about the DC heroines? Impressive no? Too much of a pigeon-holed characterisation de la femme? Plus none of the listed characteristics show any impending conflict. What’s that about? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.”
