X-Men spinoff greenlit by FOX

With X-Men:Apocalypse in production, with the film being the last hoorah for Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, FOX is looking towards branching off in a different direction in the Marvel universe by greenlighting a spin-off of the X-Men called The New Mutants.

Director Josh Boone, guy of that film The Fault In Our Stars, is set to direct.

Simon Kinberg, the producer of X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to produce the film alongside Lauren Shuler Donner.

New news on anything re: release dates, as Boone himself is contracted and attached to other feature projects like adapting Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. But in any case, you still will have a lot of comic film goodness to look forward to from the Marvel / Fox camp with the likes of Deadpool, X-Men Apocalypse, Gambit and Wolverine.
