Marvel is gearing up for an epic cross-over. And no we are not talking about Spider-Man (we had enough problems trying to keep up with rumours as is). We’re talking about Guardian Of The Galaxy and X-Men in the coming The Black Vortex.
Marvel releases variant covers for numerous comic titles all done by the super talents Andrea Sorrentino, with her signature colour-infused classic renders we’ve to know and love with her work on Uncanny X-Men. The variant art covers she has graced includes: Guardians of the Galaxy, All-New X-Men, Legendary Star-Lord, Cyclops, Captain Marvel, Nova and Guardians Team-Up. The Black Vortex will see interlinking stories spanning all the above heroes.
It was only a few days ago Marvel went ham showing their variant titles for the upcoming Star Wars comic, undoubtedly part of that wierd Marvel/Star Wars/ Disney love triangle they got going on. DC also showed off variant covers for a slew of their titles made to resemble classic movie posters.
Marvel’s synopsis of the coming comic narrative arc reminds us the depths of space still holds great mystery and danger, even for the powerful among us:
The Black Vortex, an ancient artifact of immense and immeasurable power has resurfaced on the far side of the galaxy. With the power to unlock its users true cosmic potential, in the wrong hands, the Black Vortex’s power could be a force of unparalleled destruction. Imagine the power that transformed Jean Grey into the Phoenix or Norin Radd into the Silver Surfer available to anyone, and in the hands of those who would use it for evil! And now, it can be yours!
