Marvel is set to dominate the Netflix filmsphere with upcoming series Daredevil and Marvel’s titular Jessica Jones Series. And it seems that Marvel has found its man to play muscle-bound badass Luke Cage: Mike Colter.

And we think he is a perfect fit. known for his role on series like
The Good Wife, and
Halo: Nightfall where he stars as the mysterious Agent Locke, we only expect the best from him in channelling the mysterious character that is Luke Cage making his first appearance as a cameo in the
Jessica Jones series and then his own
Luke Cage series. Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg had this to say about the choice:
Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage. We’re excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life.
This is good news obviously, as we know Colter to give very in depth interpretations of characters, and surely he’ll bring that, and more to the Marvel production of Jessica Jones.
Jessica Jones will also be a unique spin on the super hero genre, entrenched in a ‘reality’ that made comics like Watchmen and Civil War such great comics, and also what heralds the current success of DC Comics’ Gotham live-action series. Jessica Jones, after failing at a short-lived career as a superhero, ends up being a detective who uses both savvy and streetsmarts to deal with crime in New York City. The normal and the superpowered kind.
Jessica Jones is also played by Krysten Ritter, she played that girl you couldn’t stand on Breaking Bad as Jesse Pinkman’s shortlived druggie girlfriend. So you know it’s gonna be good.
The 13-episodic series of Marvel’s Jessica Jones will be made available on Netflix in 2015
