Saban’s Power Rangers are set to make a splash in cinemas in 2017. And with the recently teased image of a revamped Rita Repulsa, played by Elizabeth Banks, the Rangers gear is doing a whole other level of morph.
Released via Entertainment Weekly, we get a first glimpse at the new (and improved?) costumes of the Power Rangers. You can probably decipher which suit is male and female. Check out the exclusive image:
The image features Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy. The Power Ranger suits have been described as “translucent extraterrestrial armor that crystallizes around their bodies.” Well, then…
While this may look extreme, Director Dean Israelite keys the costume change is inline with the mythos of the franchise:
The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis. These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.
