Legendary ventures into video game territory with an announcement that will bring a legendary beat ’em up to the forefront.

CAPCOM’s Street Fighter, the prolific game, is set to have its glory in the era of revamps, remakes and revisits with Legendary set to co-produce the new movie.

The last Street Fighter venture in the movie space was way back in 1994 with outrageous campy shenanigans starring Jean Claude Van-Damme as Guile and the great Raul Julia as M. Bison. Now there seems to be a new resurgence of movies based on video gaming, with revisits being made to the first video game-to-movie trial and error crime scenes.

The likes of Super Mario Bros and Mortal Kombat are the stand outs for the IPs that circled the block. But with VFX outpacing anything back then, we are sure, married with a good script, we may be able to see a flurry of hope that fans desperately clung to with fan fiction film shorts.

More as things develop.
