Melissa Benoist, known for portrayal of the titular Kara-El in the CW/ DC series Supergirl, is set to don her cape for one last time before retiring it for good.

The actor says after season 6, she will no longer be playing the DC heroine. Not only that, but after season 6, the CW series will come to an end altogether.

Benoist voiced her gratitude for being a part of the TV series via social media in a statement that reads:

To say it has been an honor portraying this iconic character would be a massive understatement. Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless. She’s had that impact on me, too. She’s taught me strength I didn’t know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we’re united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I’m forever grateful

So it seems it is all she wrote. Will Batwoman be enough to carry the DC femme torch over at the CW?
