Exclusivity has always been the goal on all sides in the so-called Console Wars, and Sony has played done it’s fair share of fueling the fiery feud. But Sony is never one to quit while it is ahead, and news of its latest acquisition has us smiling a little at the irony.
Sony has bought outright the Californian-based games studio Insomniac Games. And surely Sony heads will not be losing any sleep over this purchase as the studio recently produced the stellar Marvel game Spider-Man. It’s like owning Spidey twice over. The Spider-Man game, which was a Playstation 4 exclusive, reportedly sold 13.2 million copies. As such we are sure Sony is looking to carbon copy the success of this.
Insomniac Games had an impressive 25 years as an independent studio, creating classic games like Ratchet And Clank. Now that Insomniac Games is part of the Sony fold, the games studio will focus on creating games exclusively for the Sony Playstation console. Talk about cornering a market.
