Warner Bros. is taking on “The Matrix” once again and Michael B. Jordan is pegged to be involved

Ah The Matrix. The series that went from great to okay to that one game where Agent Smith was an unkillable character and that other game where your final fight was with a giant monster made up of tiny Agent Smiths and other inanimate objects. Well, WB thinks they could do more.
 

The Matrix is being revisited, and we are not talking about the short anime pieces. No, wait, that was Animatrix. Revisited was the first game. All caught up now. And Warner Bros is looking to Michael B Jordan to star in this new Matrix. Now if you think The Matrix is a reboot or a remake, you’re wrong. According to Zak Penn, the guy brought in to write a treatment for a new Matrix movie, claims that The Matrix 4 being called a remake or reboot is innaccurate”:

All I can say at this point is no one could or should REBOOT The Matrix. People who know Animatrix and the comics understand. Can’t comment yet except to say that the words reboot and remake were from an article. Let’s stop responding to inaccurate news. Do I want to see more stories set in the universe of The Matrix? Yes. Because it’s a brilliant idea that generates great stories. Look at what people are doing with Xmen universe. Between Logan and Legion and Deadpool, does anyone want them to stop? Not me.”

But yeah, you’ve literally described a reboot. Different characters, sure, Still a reboot / remake of sorts. Much like X-Men: First Class was a reboot of the X-Men series.

There is also talks of WB possibly wanting Keanu Reeves to have a reprising role as Neo but of course anything beyond this point is pure speculation and rumour. The Wachowski’s, the directors of the film, won’t be taking back up the directors chair, but apparently WB would want their blessing going ahead with the reboot Matrix 4.
