The Lara Croft we had in Angelina Jolie is truly over as a reboot for the Tomb Raider movie is currently being crafted and held above our pretty heads.

Of course you know they already have chosen actor Alicia Vikander for the iconic archeologist gun-totting femme fatale. But now Graham King, the producer behind the reboot, has let some information be known in an interview with HeyUGuys.

Much like the video game reboot, the new Tomb Raider film will focus on a young Lara Croft searching for her father.

This is kind of what we call a back to the roots story. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and I think we’ve got the right crew and a great director.

How ‘young’ is young though? Actor Alicia is high 20’s, but we’d expect Lara’s self-discovery in survival skills and the likes would kick-in in her early 20’s, thus allowing her to become a full-fledged badass in her late – early 30’s.

But they got a handle on stuff. Positively sure…

Tomb Raider will arrive just in time for spring break 2018
