FOX recently took a bit of a hit re: Marvel-franchise film Fantastic Four (and the reason for it was to do more with the 20th Century Fox micromanaging than it had to do with one casting). Fanboys. But in anycase, Deadpool seems to be heading in the right direction.
And if the film is a success, a sequel is surely to follow. According to director Tim Miller talking to Empire Magazine, fans can expect an archnemesis of the merc to make an appearance… non other than X-Men’s Cable:
There aren’t really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2, I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail.
In the comics, one of Deadpool’s first jobs was being hired to kill Cable and the New Mutants. They’ve also appeared together in a Marvel series set for October called Split Second. Split Second is new Marvel series consisting of six digital-first comic issues featuring D’pool and Cable.
