I was once a monster, but now I am so much more. I used to walk the world alone… But now I am one of the many. Now I am part of Brother Eye. I used to think my flesh was dead, unholy… but now I see that all flesh is evil. It must be purged. The world must be cleansed. These are the last days… This is the end.
DC’s Future’s End #0 seems to have all the earmarks of a reset. With all the powers that Superman has and is still discovering, how could he not be this “New 52” corrupt and evil dystopian alien-god. So how could you not imagine the end of all things to look like this:
But it seems in #0, all the superheroes you have come to know and love in the New 52 comic arc are facing death. All of ’em. Blue Beetle, Captain Cold, Flash, Green Lantern… they all kick it. And it is up to Terry McGinnis (Batman Beyond) to fight the final great fight.
Over the 20-pages of the DC comic being offered up on FCBD, fans can see mutilation and mangled corpses splayed across pages. And all this carnage seems to have Brother Eye (an evil AI unwittingly co-invented by Batman himself) at the center of it all.
And with DC Comics ushering in the end of The New 52 arc, we can look forward to more sensationalised titles in the months to come.
