“Blue Beetle” extends its life with announced animated TV series currently in production

For fans that revelled in the potential that Blue Beetle had when first promoted even as DC ‘s transition into Gunn’s current DCU, it seems the embers have not fully been extinguished as the alien tech is set to take on a new host in terms of medium. Warner Bros. Animation has announced that a Blue Beetle animated series is currently in the works.

Narrative details are skint, understandably, but this may be some form of continuation from the live action foray that capped off a turbulent and volatile Snyder(esque) universe.

Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the director and screenwriter of the 2023 film, respectively, will executive produce the animated series. They will also be working with John Rikard who served in the same capacity on the film. Galen Vaisman, who was an executive producer on the Blue Beetle movie, will oversee the animated TV series for DC Studios.
