The Action pixel. @TheActionPixelDwayne “The Rock” Johnson, set to play Captain Marvel’s greatest nemesis Black Adam, recently took to Twitter hinting that Shazam! would be “fun and independent”. But somewhat contrary to this, DC Comics has confirmed that Shazam! will exist in the same universe as the narrative of Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice:

Yes, there were rumours of some sort of film slate, mentions that Warner Bros. had “big plans” for DC Entertainment and occasional informal announcements (like the news that New Line had a Shazam movie in development). But for fans who were hoping to see a DC Cinematic Universe similar to what they’ve seen from other publishers, one that included super heroes other than Superman or Batman, there didn’t seem to be a lot to talk about.
That changed on October 15, 2014, when Warner Bros. revealed a full slate of ten DC Entertainment feature films all set within the same universe. The list included the movies we were hoping to see—Wonder Woman will get her own film, while the Justice League will get TWO movies. However, it also included quite a few surprises. A standalone Cyborg movie! A Flash feature starring Ezra Miller! A Suicide Squad movie! And coming in 2016, no less!

Shazam!, a.k.a (The Real) Captain Marvel, is a child named Billy Batson, who is granted a mystical power by a wizard, that whenever he utters the word “Shazam!” he is struck by lightning transforming him into the mighty superhero.

With recent news of the Wonder Woman film not as of yet being green-lit by WB, it would appear the hustle and bustle in the DC camp is going as smoothly as it is in Marvel. One can understand as while Marvel’s filmic voyage is comprised of standalone film (and short series) independent from each other, DC’s roster has multiple, overlapping titles, so some coordination lag would be expected. All we want to know is if and when will we be seeing a Captain Marvel / Superman face-off!?
