Action-adventure RPG Children Of Morta may just be all the proof you need that sometimes simplifying your medium amplifies your message. 8-bit / pixel-ly action never looked so sexy, with great animation and even better sound design.

Children Of Morta story focuses around the Berguson family, who live a trouble-free, hippy lifestyle on Mount Morta, one with nature, family game nights and what not.

That’s of course until everything goes belly up when a dark, corrupting blight washes over their native land. And being guardians of Mount Morta, the family sets out to change the tide of evil that is destroying their home and vanquish the corruption at its core.

Each family member is endowed with a certain talent, which comes in handy at varied stages of the game’s main levels, plus the odd, random events help to further ensure immersive and varied gameplay for each character.

Children Of Morta, developed by Dead Mage, does look hella promising, and they’ve started a Kickstarter page to secure seed money to get the project off the ground.
