Empire Magazine chopped it up with Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige on Doctor Strange coming to the big screen.

Apparently it was love at first casting with Benedict Cumberbatch, as Feige said in the interview:

After [Benedict] left, [executive producer] Stephen Broussard and I looked at each other and said, ‘I think Doctor Strange was just here.’

And being British, it would obviously be a sinch for Cumberbatch to play the snooty over-confident asshole, seeing the characteristics of the rise and fall and rise of Doctor Stephen Strange:

an arrogant neurosurgeon in Manhattan, living a very opulent lifestyle [who] gets into a horrible car accident and his hands, the tools by which he can do amazing surgeries, are mangled and destroyed. That starts his downward path, and that’s why Benedict is such a great choice – you can go to the highest heights and lowest lows with him and he won’t lose you.

But interestingly, with director Scott Derrickson spearheading Doctor Strange, known for his horror films, it seems we’ll be delving into alternate dimensions that will deliver the chills.
Fiege gives us details on this:

We see glimpses of something called the Dark Dimension. But if you were to open a Doctor Strange comic drawn by Steve Ditko, you would see the Dark Dimension is, in fact, very colourful in an extremely psychedelic way. Those are the things we’re not shying away from.

Hence this bad boy:

But with the confirmation of the Dark Dimension, can we expect a supervillain siblings Dormammu and Umar to make an appearance in this or possible a set up for a Doctor Strange 2 / another Marvel tie-in? Dormammu and Umar were banished to the Dark Dimension where Dormammu went on some “Highlander-there-can-be-only-one” tip and became ruler of this alternate dimension.

In any case, lets hope a ‘glimpse’ will be enough grab out intrigue.
