Playstation 5 Controller offers next-level features you’re going to love
Putting more than just your hands to good use…
Playstation 5 presented fans with their first taste of things to come with the reveal of the DualSense Wireless Controller which has been well received. But looking past the obviously sleek lines and build, the PS5 controller is more than a pretty facelift.
It is, however, when you look under the hood of the PS5 DualSense controller, Sony has seemingly built on the pluses of the PS4 controller, whilst adding more to help give players their newest, most immersive experience yet.
Here are the features that really caught our eyes:
Built-In Microphone
This is something that seemed simple enough to do the first time around, but of course one would have maybe questioned the sound fidelity if they had. But alas, the casual gamer may still want to be part of the fun and shouldn’t be deprived of jumping in on conversations because they do not have a headset nearby. And of course, sometimes its better to jump into chats when the convo is happening than miss a moment looking for your misplaced headset *guilty*.
Haptic Feedback
A little more rumble in your jungle here. Haptic feedback will add a “variety of powerful sensations you’ll feel when you play, such as the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud”. You know the vibes.
Adaptive triggers
The L2 and R2 buttons use adaptive triggers that will mimic varying levels of tension dependent on your activity in a game. For example, feeling greater, varying tension when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow versus pulling a trigger.
Create Button
We spoke about this briefly, but the Share button has been replaced by the Create button, where gamers can create gameplay content to share with their friends and the world.
Ergonomics
Sony formed the new DualSense controller to optimise it to fit and foster greater comfort for all hand sizes. This included changing the angle of the controller’s hand triggers and updating the grip for the DualSense
Battery Charge and Life
The DualSense is rechargeable and has a USB-C port, which Sony says will go a long ways in maintaining the device’s stronger battery life.
More information is set to filter out later in regards to the Create Button specifics as well as the console ahead of the Playstation 5 launch which is set to come during the festive season of 2020.
