Sony Pictures has steadily begun fleshing out their slice of the Marvel universe with the like of Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse projects, but now we see even more concrete moves towards an extensive universe.
The planned Morbius: The Living Vampire film has already cast its lead – Jared Leto.
The musician has had a nice acting stretch, having appeared in Blade Runner 2049 and looks to add on to his comic book film roles, of course having played The Joker in the DCEU’s Suicide Squad, alongside a standalone film (separate from the Joker origin film).
The director of the film has also been announced. Daniel Espinosa, the Scandinavian filmmaker who helmed Safe House and last year’s sci-fi thriller Life, will direct the feature, which has a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, the duo who created Netflix’s Lost in Space remake.
