Whilst Marvel is making the most of Spider-Man coming back home to the MCU with Spider-Man: Homecoming and other film projects and animation features and series, Sony is not on the sidelines with the franchise.
It’s announced that a few Spider-Man spin-off projects are greenlit at Sony.
Words from chariman of Sony Pictures, Tom Rothman:
We’re working on a lot of that stuff. There’s a concerted effort, so I think there will be real news as opposed to speculated news before too long.
So what spin-offs we talking?
Well, for one, rumours have been circulating over at Sony during its wikileaks era of a Venom and Carnage film in development. Plus a recent rumour puts Nightwatch as a character we might see in a film, with the 90’s character making his first appearance in the Web Of Spider-Man comic.
Whether Marvel will have a hand in these spin-offs is unconfirmed.
So what do you think? Venom has yet to be fully actualised as a true enemy of Spider-Man in our opinion before we can even start thinking of spin-offs. Think Marvel should be involved on the Sony side of things? Let’s hear your opinion in the comment section + on Twitter @TheActionPixel
