With the numerous issues surrounding Justice League Dark, with director Guillermo Del Toro leaving the project, things seemed up in the air re: the film going into production.
But now Variety reports that the film is finally greenlit. The live-action DC film, Dark Universe (Justice League Dark) movie employs Doug Liman attached to direct (he was up to direct the now seemingly ill-fated Gambit movie). Scott Rudin is set to produce whilst Michael Gilio pens the script.
So Constantine could be back on screen, would be interesting to see whether they make a link with Keanu Reeves, who has shown interest in putting on the musty trench-coat again. Then again, we suspect it will be all new actors.
It’s further said Justice League Dark will play a major role in the new D.C. Cinematic Universe. Which may be, like the present DCU, divisive.
No information re synopsis has reached the interweb, but there was this Swamp Thing test render made for the film during the initial pitch stage:
There is also a Justice League Dark animated film coming out, which many speculated would replace the live action, but it looks like we’ll be getting a double helping of supernatural shinanigans with John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon.
