Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is set to go toe-to-toe with his greatest nemesis come the James Wan-directed solo film.

It’s reported by The Wrap that Black Manta, known in the DC Comics as Aquaman’s archenemy is making landfall (waterfall?) to the Aquaman movie.
As the comics go, there is a lot of bad blood and letting between Aquaman and Black Manta. Original stories for Black Manta vary, one that involves him being kidnapped and being sexually abused and forced to work on a shop. Aquaman, who failed to see his call for help, bred a lot of anger in him, and after killing his captors swore an oath to rule the seas. But me thinks DC Film Universe will go with a more modern ‘New 52’ origin story, where Aquaman killed Black Manta’s father in retaliation for a crime.
Black Manta is not of the sea, but wears essentially a black wetsuit with a funky looking bug-eyed helmet.
Recent news also has Jason Momoa up to play another comic book protagonist in The Crow reboot.
Aquaman is set to appear in cinemas come July 27th 2018
