A full 25 years after the game was released, courtesy of new information shared by Capcom.

Big mystery. Kept us up at night. Mind boggling even. But now all the night terrors will cease, friends.
 

The two fighters are actually known as Max and Scott. CAPCOM even released a few vital stats on the Street Fighter duo. Max weighs in at 95kg and 191cm, an obvious fan of street fighting. Meanwhile, Scott comes in at 187cm and 93kg, and has a birthday of April 1. April Fools Day. Splendid.
