It, understandably has been a bit of a rollercoaster year for Hideo Kojima. One being at the helm of one of the greatest games of the year in 2015, hell our favourite game of 2015. And of course we are talking about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Kojima’s success was blighted time-to-time from his rocky relationship with Konami.First he left, Konami said he still works for them, then Konami snubbed him at the prestigious The Game Awards.
But all that is over now. Hideo has left is cosy with Playstation and Kojima Productions is in full effect.
And to top it off, Hideo Kojima has been now named the twenty-first member of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame.
Here’s what Martin Rae, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences president had to say about the news:
Hideo Kojima’s career-defining works have shaped much of how the video game industry approaches cinematic storytelling and player engagement. As one of the most well-loved and well-respected designers of our time, it is a great honour for the Academy to induct him into our Hall of Fame. Hideo is a game creator whose eyes have always looked towards the future, and we look forward to his thoughts on the D.I.C.E. Summit stage.
Yep, he is set to receive an award at the DICE Summit in February. Which we are happy. Oh and the guy presenting him with the award. Some guy. You might know hime, worked with Kojima on Silent Hill… Guillermo del Toro.
Now if that is not the planets and stars aligning, I don’t know what is. We’re just imagining the after party, everyones having fun and Hideo and Guillermo chopping it up at the bar, scribbling mad genius chicken scratch jottings on a napkin.
Here’s to the great hope, gamers!
