Since the announcement of a coming Teen Titan-inspired series coming to the TNT channel, there has not been much chatter on the lines regarding the DC Comics series. But now we get a bit of an update re:production.
TNT president Kevin Reilly casting is on the cards and Titans begins shooting possible as soon as this Summer.
Reilly also made mention of the importance that the Titan series remain true to the source material:
I sat down with Akiva and said — and he ultimately agreed — that the [TV] landscape right now is well-serviced on the superhero front. So what space is this going to inhabit? And really what he wants to do is be very true to the source material… There were consequences to things that happened; it wasn’t somebody died and they moved on. There was the first superhero to be an addict [in Roy Harper’s Speedy]. It’s a coming-of-age story for Robin, who feels like Batman has betrayed him.
The series is set to feature members of the comic series, including Dick Grayson as Robin (Who becomes Nightwing later on in the series), Barbara Gordon as Batgirl, Hank Hall and Dawn Granger as Hawk and Dove, respectively, and Rachel Roth as Starfire.
Beast Boy and Cyborg are said not to appear in the pilot, but will most likely be introduced later on in the series.
Can’t wait to see that Nightwing take the reigns as leader. Long as he’s not hung up on old man Wayne.
