hulk. Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Action pixel. @theactionpixelFor those of you, like us, that have noticed a certain jolly mean giant being bereft from a solo movie in between Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Infinity Wars, we feel your pain. The Hulk best film to date is the couple minutes he had in the first Avengers, so we were surely holding out for a Hulk solo film. And when rumours start spreading about a Hulk film based on the like of Planet Hulk, we were like “Hulk in space…yes!”

But alas, all you fans holding out for a solo Hulk film, actor Mark Ruffalo has some news that may dampen your expectations a little bit. We most likely won’t be seeing a Hulk solo movie, as a lot of the film rights are tied up with Universal Studios. Apparently there are no issues with Hulk appearing in a supportive role, hence Avengers. Mark Ruffalo explains his / Hulk’s situation:

As far as a Hulk movie, a standalone Hulk movie, Marvel doesn’t really have the rights to that yet. That’s still Universal’s property, so there’s that issue. That’s a big impediment to moving forward with that. Now I don’t think that’s insurmountable, by the way, but I don’t know where it’s going from here for me.

Check out the interview below:

Now this is not to say all hope is loss. Yes, it all sounds like studio / production squandering, and yes Disney’s not the type to form alliances so readily with competition, but if Spider-Man can make it back to the MCU, there is still hope yet. And it would be a bit unfair for the hulk not to be developed a bit before Infinity.

Mark Ruffalo makes his appearance as Dr. Banner /the Hulk in Avengers: Age Of Ultron come May 1st 2015
