Is this the future of gaming? Its an idea I fell in love with since getting hooked on the internet staple that is Freddie Wong YouTube videos.
But as it turns out, augmented reality is something that is already real, well according to Magic Leap, who have raised $542 million from the likes of tech giants like Google to invest in this technology.
Magic Leap claims that employees are already playing this game around the workplace. But to be fare, we were due a live demonstration at a TED conference in Vancouver, but pulled out last minute.
See the awesome video of an average workday at Magic Leap:
The video however looks more concept, as the graphics are provided by Weta Workshop, who worked on a lot of the Lord Of The Rings films. Not to mention the gun looks a lot more real and part of the physical environment than the graphic robots. But alas, like Icarus, we dare to dream. How awesome would this tech be? And in any case, there only competition is time and HoloLens, Microsoft’s augmented reality headset. Who will reach the pinaccle of success is yet to be seen. In any case, we’ll be first in line, even if the result is we get sucked into some Sword Art Online f*cked-up reality.
