Why David Ayer won’t reprise his role as director of “Suicide Squad 2”

Are there more than one sirens going off in the DC / WB camp?

While David Ayer made his most recent mark on the DCEU with directing Suicide Squad, it seems Suicide Squad 2 isn’t in the cards. Hence people pegging the likes of Mel Gibson et al.

gotham city sirens, harley quinn, catwoman, poison Ivy,dc comics. the action pixel, @theactionpixelBut Ayer is far from done with the DCEU as he is up to direct the forthcoming Gotham City Sirens movie, with the rumoured Black Mask as villain

But why the decision?

Well, Ayer shed some light on the issue when he spoke at Comic-Con about the project:

It’s a story about three fantastic women who’re trying to find their way in the world, and realize that they have more power together than they do individually. I have daughters, and I want to create something that might be able to help them get along in the world a little bit.

This would be fine when all said and done if not recent Ayer comments that seemed to throw shade on his recent DCEU movie Suicide Squad.

Speaking on his Netflix film Bright at SDCC starring Will Smith, Ayer seemingly made a reference to the “PG-13 shit” Suicide Squad film:

This movie is about LA, but a fucked up LA, but our world is fucked up. This isn’t some bullshit, produced PG-13 shit movie, I was able to do my thing.

There seems to be some disconnect with DC / WB, as writers, film-makers and actors come out the other end either chewed up, disgruntled or otherwise dissatisfied with the status quo. Which later has them making public apologies for voicing their opinion. There is something called professional conduct, people. And we’re not just talking about the cast and crew.
