It has finally happened. The long-rumoured return of the action-RPG classic game – Diablo 2 – has finally bore fruit with the announcement of the game getting the remastered treatment. Diablo 2: Resurrected is slated for release in the year of our Lord 2021. The game will make landfall on PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
But this seems to be more than what has been put forward for other remasters in recent years. So if people are just expecting basic cosmetic change, they will be happily disappointed. Lead producer of the remaster – Chris Lena – has gone on record to say that Diablo 2 Resurrected is due for not one but two stress alpha tests:
We’re going to start with a single-player technical alpha, and then we’ll have a second technical alpha after that, which is kind of multiplayer and stress testing.
It seems they are really going to be putting the game through its paces before release. Which is, as always, a good thing.
Description reads:
Arise, Diablo, Lord of Terror. Diablo II: Resurrected is the definitive remastering of Diablo II and its Lord of Destruction® expansion — two hallmark entries in Blizzard Entertainment’s genre-defining action role-playing series.
