DC Films continues their scorched earth policy as more bonds are severed amidst the continued shake-up in the Discovery acquisition and the appointment of DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
This time, Patty Jenkins’ defence of Wonder Woman‘s narrative arc during the James Cameron debacle was seemingly not enough to justify a third movie, as DC is no longer committing to development.
This comes only a few days shy of the multiyear plan ahead of next week’s pivotal presentation to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav via DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
And it truly may be curtains for the lasting remnants of Snyderverse, as now things are seemingly in flux.Man Of Steel 2, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom and The Flash may very well be the sutures tying off and the head surgeon calling time-of-death of the DCEU.
Not to mention Dwayne Johnson premature and ill-made statements of Black Adam‘s success and him being the reason Henry Cavill returned as Superman. You can imagine, as multiple sources have said according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Rock’s spouting his “power” over at DC may not be endearing him to the new management. And when you consider Black Adam financially-speaking will maybe just about break even ($230 million to produce with box office sales mounting up to $385 million worldwide), it would not be a surprise that Dwayne Johnson’s plans are not being considered high priority at DC, even with the star power behind his name.
Ultimately, this all hinges on what exactly the terrible two studio heads of the DCU come up with next week. It really is just a matter of whether they want to give the DCEU a slow or quick death.
