Hate it or love, Marvel’s ever-expanding multiverse is now the new principal force affecting direction within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So much so we officially have newly-announced canon that is not live-action.
Disney+ What If…? – the Marvel Studios-helmed animated series – has officially been christened as MCU canon. And judging from the themes being pushed by the like of other Marvel/Disney Plus series (save for The Falcon And The Winter Soldier) is one of multiverses and adventitious timelines, it is not a surprise the What If…? series would be adding more sticks to the fire.
The news was made known by What If…? writer AC Bradley and executive producer Bryan Andrews detailed a little story of how she inadvertently guessed huge key plot points of Guardians of The Galaxy 3 when pitching a GotG episode for the Disney Plus show. Kevin Feige was not having it. Understandably. And for the best. Because, well… as far as weak Marvel movies go…
In any case, one thing is for sure. The one thing we can count on in the coming series is the Watcher will be watching… and multiverse chaos will be the governing law in deciding what events and new characters are to come to the MCU.
