Even as DC’s forthcoming The Suicide Squad is building momentum, it would seem the project has spored satellite endeavors that will take on the same model that The Batman has adopted.
The director of The Suicide Squad – James Gunn, has unveiled that he is in the process of completing the script for the TV series spin-off based on his The Suicide Squad movie.
And the TV series will be focused around the most patriotic of all the heroes unveiled in The Suicide Squad trailer – Peacemaker.
Specifically speaking about the Peacemaker TV series – it will see star John Cena reprise his role from The Suicide Squad movie. Here is what Gunn had to say about the project:
Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag. I’m excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series. And of course, to be able to work again with John, Peter, and my friends at Warner Bros. is the icing on the cake
The series is slated to premiere on HBO Max streaming service come January 2022.
Until then, The Suicide Squad movie is slated for cinematic release come August 6, 2021
