It’s official. Valiant Comics filmic endeavours with Sony Pictures has landed a big win with Vin Diesel confirmed as the main hero for the coming Bloodshot feature film. It’s a done deal.
Bloodshot is by far the créme-de-la-créme of Valiant comics which follows the story of a mob killer named Angelo Mortalli who is ‘bestowed’ with powers of regeneration and meta-morphing made possible through nanites injected into his blood. So think Deadpool and Wolverine amalgamation of badassery. He’s had his memories wiped god knows how many times, so you can imagine the road to revenge on the people responsible will be a carpet encrusted with blood.
Jared Leto, believe it or not, was in the running for the lead role in the film, but that didn’t pan out. Dave Wilson, a partner at Deadpool director Tim Miller’s Blur Studios, is set to direct the film from a screenplay by Arrival writer Eric Heisserer.
The film is slated to be an R-rated comic adaptation “that will be tonally and aesthetically influenced by high-concept sci-fi blockbusters of the late 80s like the Terminator. Sony is slated to start filming Bloodshot come July, with the film set for release in 2019.
