Marvel and FOX have great plans for Deadpool via the upcoming animated series on FXX which is set to be ‘mature’ – in the sense of age-appropriateness as opposed to being ‘grown-up’. Well, not to be ignored, it seems DC Comics has its eyes set on bringing a certain A-class agent of comedic chaos to the forefront with an R-rated animation series. And of course, we are talking about Harley Quinn.
Yep, Harley Quinn is getting an adult animated series, and it is set to premiere exclusively on DC’s own DC Digital streaming service. So it looks like Young Justice 3 has some company.
Harley Quinn will be receiving a 26-episode half-hour adult animated series from Powerless creative team of Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey.
Check out the concept art created to give us a glimpse into what’s possible, rendered by DC Comics artist Amanda Conner:

The series will focus on Harley Quinn who’s broken things off with the Joker and is attempting to find success in the Gotham City underworld on her own, alongside her friend Poison Ivy and a whole cast of heroes and villains.

And if your worried about DCEU continuity, Margot Robbie, who portrayed Harley Quinn in the live-action Suicide Squad movie, is at the top of WB’s list to voice the character.
And with DC Digital set to kick off its service in the new year, we’ll surely be getting more news on this and upcoming shows.
