When there is this much confusion in any team, you can’t be surprised when the results are just as divisive like Batman V Superman. Matt Reeves made it known recently that The Batman was being treated as an entity outside the construct of the DCEU. Which meant the Snyder-effect could very well be absent from it. But, low and behold, there is some back-pedalling:
Matt Reeves now ‘clarifies’ that “Of COURSE Batman will be part of the D.C. Universe”. Now either the people doing the briefing are still trying to work out what’s going on, or they are using the wrong phrases to pitch ideas to prospective creatives as if trying to hook them in. Give the impression there is more room for creative maneouvring when there isn’t. At this point, I really couldn’t tell you. But if you’re adding more films to the roster, all of which are to be connected and the foundation is rocky, then everything that follows will be of the same caliber. Recent news had a Joker Origins film to be in development which by all means seemed separate from the current DCEU. But with the constant WB / DC backpedalling, that may very well change tomorrow.
“What is up over there in DC / WB? Too many cooks in the kitchen? Let’s hear what you think in the comment section, Facebook and Twitter!”
