With Sony going full steam ahead with its own Spider-verse, including Venom (starring Tom Hardy), Silver Sable and Black Cat, when news struck that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is not connected to these offspring films was a taken by some as a bit of a let down. By others, an opportunity to see a new beast of a film not covered with the tint of the MCU.

But Amy Pascal, chieftess over at Sony now claims that the Sony-led Spider-Man spin-offs are connected to the Marvel-verse.

Here’s what she had to say:

It [Sony-led Spider-Man films (Venom in particular)] will all take place in the world we are now creating for Peter Parker. It’ll be adjunct to it, it may be different locations, but it will all still be in the same world and they will be connected to each other as well

Which all sounds dandy. Methinks Sony are happy for Marvel to take somewhat of a creative lead, seeing no one understands the material better than them. But to be fair are we missing an opportunity to really stretch the limits of what a Venom film could be. I’m talking Logan / Oscar bound / modern-day Jekyll And Hyde shit. Not sure if that can be achieved in the present Marvel-verse.

But, I guess it all boils down to the script.

“Psyched to see Venom and Pals connected to the MCU? Or is having everything under one umbrella a good idea? Any chance Tom Holland will be making an appearance? Let us hear it in the comment section and via Twitter @TheActionPixel
