More good news for The Predator, which comes as 20th Century Fox unveils its mighty plans for releases in 2018. The film is delayed. Why is that good news? Well, it means the previous plan to release The Predator in February – Hollywood’s dump month for films it feels will not do well – has been abandoned.
The new release date is a little snugger in the Summer blockbuster bracket, with a new release date of August 3rd 2018. The feature, to be directed by Shane Black, stars Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan Michael-Key.
And with Alien: Covenant being all the craze, it is good to see a little more in the way of confidence in the sci-fi reboot The Predator. The classic film, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, was released back in 1987. Arnie played an elite soldier who leads a team into the jungle to rescue hostages only to find themselves game to an even more ruthless, alien hunter.
Now we know Predator has fallen off the trail a bit since its first outing, culminating with Alien Vs Predator, but seeing both sci-fi franchises are getting a reboot at pretty much the same time, can we expect another attempt at a franchise cross-over soon. It’s anyone’s guess. But we’ll have to wait to see if 20th Century Fox’s confidence is well-placed.
The Predator is set for cinematic release come August 3rd 2018
