Joss Whedon’s “Batgirl” is happening, and it’s aiming to be edgy

Recently news hit the fan of a possible Joss Whedon-directed Batgirl film. Well, as it turns out it is in the cards to happen, and Entertainment Weekly recently revealed more of the direction of the project.
 

Joss Whedon’s Barbara Gordon (Commissioner Gordon’s daughter) / Batgirl movie seems on track to follow the Gail Simone DC Comics narrative arc which pretty follows events after being paralysed by the Joker in The Killing Joke. And judging from that one can expect darker narrative than the Batgirl Of Burnside social-media hipster chick of the recent rebooted Batgirl franchise.

A darker narrative would also indicate she may be infused into Snyder’s DCU, and the narrative arc being drawn upon may suggest also that Batgirl’s story won’t be an origins story.
