Marvel follows up their recent Netflix Iron Fist trailer by putting a little bit of the spotlight back on his comic buddy, the Cage.

And While Luke Cage Season 2 is coming, if you cant wait until then or for The Defenders, then the next best thing surely is to take a gander of this. Marvel is giving Luke Cage a new standalone series set to start later this year. The ongoing series will feature work from writer David Walker (bringing an end to his Power Man & Iron Fist run) and art by Nelson Blake II.

The series obviously will capitalise on the success of the Netflix TV series, but will set to offer something new as well. Walker explains:

I’m writing him as a little more mature, and I’m not going to say that the television show was a huge influence on me, but it did show me a lot of ideas and ways Luke could be handled; a lot of them were in conjunction with ideas I had been developing in the first place or had been thinking about. I really want to give the readers the best Luke possible, and I think that’s a Luke who does more than just fight all the time.

The narrative arc in issue 1 begins with Cage investing a death in New Orleans. And it’s personal.
